Gulf Shores Dawn Fishing Trip | Red Snapper Success

This trip gives your captain room to respond when the fishing changes. You might work a quieter inshore stretch, then head to another nearby area if the bite calls for a change. Fort Morgan has a variety of fishable waters close together, so the day can include different settings without being tied to one spot. Your captain chooses where to focus based on conditions and your goals, keeping you involved as the plan unfolds. Each stop brings a new chance to cast, watch the water, and see what’s biting. That flexible approach makes this a good choice for anglers who enjoy an outing that can shift with the day instead of following the same routine from start to finish.

Summer Redfish Action: Gulf Shores Inshore Success Story

Fort Morgan sits between Mobile Bay and the Gulf, giving this trip room to change with the conditions. You may begin in calmer backwaters, then move toward more open coastal water if that’s where the fish are active. That variety keeps the outing from feeling tied to one setting or style of fishing. Your captain adjusts the plan as the day unfolds, guiding you through different areas and keeping you involved along the way. It’s a good fit if you enjoy seeing how the fishing changes from one stretch of water to another and want the flexibility to follow the action. Rather than spending the whole trip in the same kind of spot, you’ll get a broader feel for the fishing around Fort Morgan.

Mobile Bay's structure and current breaks make it an ideal spot for working multiple techniques, allowing us to cover water efficiently while keeping lines tight. The speckled trout were cooperative, giving the crew plenty of opportunities to test their skills with different presentations. Captain Mike, Patrick’s father and right hand man in the charter business, brings decades of experience to their fishing charters. Although he’s been a licensed captain for just over three years, he’s been fishing the waters around Fort Morgan and the Alabama Gulf Coast since the early 1980s.  Back in college, Mike studied marine biology at the University of South Alabama, where he developed a deep understanding of local ecosystems and fish behavior—knowledge that still shapes the way he approaches every trip. Whether it’s reading the tides, targeting specific species, or finding fish when others can’t, Mike's background gives him a unique edge on the water.  Before guiding full-time, Mike spent years working in banking and finance, but fishing was always his passion. Eventually, he decided to trade in the desk job for deck boots—and never looked back.  One of his specialties is shark fishing, and his experience with big, powerful fish is second to none. From family trips to serious offshore runs, Captain Mike combines a calm, knowledgeable presence with a true love of the Gulf—making every trip safe, educational, and memorable.

What to Bring

Fort Morgan Fishing Charters: Inshore & Nearshore Trips

Exciting Fishing Videos From The Best Customers

From May 15 through June 30, speckled trout make a seasonal push into the shallow water along Gulf Shores’ beaches. You’ll fish near the sand, working the sandbars and channels shaped by the tides while schools move in close to shore. That beachside setting gives the trip a different feel from fishing farther offshore, and you may see trout feeding within sight of the sand. Some fish can reach 3 to 6 pounds, though size and action vary. Your crew will guide you through this brief seasonal window and help you make the most of the conditions. If you enjoy watching the water and casting where trout are feeding close to shore, this annual run offers a memorable way to experience summer fishing in Gulf Shores.

Gulf Shores’ Summer Trout Run Brings the Fishing Right to the Beach

In the weeks before spawning, sheepshead gather around Gulf Shores bridges, jetties, and other inshore structure, creating a seasonal fishing opportunity with plenty of potential for action. This trip is timed for March 1 through April 20, when the pre-spawn bite can be especially lively. You’ll fish the areas where these strong, striped fish are known to collect, with each drop bringing the possibility of a quick strike and a spirited fight. The activity can be appealing to experienced anglers, while the straightforward setting makes it easy to enjoy the day on the water. Conditions and fishing can vary, but the chance to target sheepshead during this brief spring window is what makes the trip stand out.
